Heuristic Evaluation
A heuristic evaluation is a quick, inexpensive way to evaluate the usability of your product. Typically, this product is your web site. However, we are able to apply our heuristic methodology to any kind of product that requires uesr interaction. By using a standard set of criteria, or heuristics, we are able to give you a good idea of the state of your web site's usability without performing a user study.
We do this by examining various aspects of your product systematically and comparing them to known usability concepts and guidelines. Through this process, we can determine whether or not your product presents obvious usability pitfalls, or whether it complies with known usability concepts.
Benefits
Because a heuristic evaluation does not involve user participants, the results are less thorough and less definitive than those obtained through a user study since there is no empirical data. At the same time, however, the cost and turnaround time are greatly reduced.

We offer three levels of Heuristic Evaluations: Lite, Standard, and Deluxe. All three services offer the full attention of our consulting expertise. The differences lay in the number of consultants assigned to evaluating your product or web site and the depth of the evaluation performed. All Evalutions will be delivered with a report of our analyses and recommendations for improving the usability of your product based on problems and issues that we found.
Heuristic Evaluation Lite
An Evaluation Lite is a great first step toward improving the usability of your product. Our Principal Consultant will evaluate your product using our Heuristic Lite methodology. We will then provide you with a report informing you of the findings, along with recommendations for improving your web site. A typical Evaluation Lite report is 1-2 pages and in most cases, you will have the results within 3-5 days.
Standard Heuristic Evaluation
With a large usability firm, you can expect to pay $35-40,000 for a heuristic evaluation. With Furiant, your cost will be 70-80% less. The difference is that they will provide an aggregate evaluation from a large number of consultants while we evaluate with a small number of consultants. We believe that our Standard Evaluation provides you with about 75% of their results at about 20% of the cost. In most cases, you will receive your Standard Evaluation report within 10-14 days.
Deluxe Heuristic Evaluation
Our Deluxe Heuristic Evaluation is scalable to your specific needs. Pricing will depend on the number of evaluators you would like to provide analyses and the size and complexity of your product.
